Please send me your recipe and pictures! If you don't have photos of you and your child baking/cooking, please still send the recipe! Thursday is the absolute latest please. Wednesday, May 10 - Library Spelling - ce, ci, cy and co, ca, cu. Cell, cite, circle, cycle, icy, can, car, come, cost, cut, cup. Spelling : We are learning the rule for the letter c this week. C likes to sound like a K, it sounds like K when a consonant comes after it: Cl, Cr, Ck, Ct, and it likes to sound like K when a, o, u come after it: Cat, Car, Can, Cob, Cost, Core, Cut, Cup. The other vowels (i, e, y) like to tease C and make C say Ssss. Centre, cell, cite, circle, cycle, icy. These rules work for most words in English, you'll be surprised that you follow this rule when you read but you may not have known it was rule. And very few words use K if they can already use C. K came into English after most words had a proper spelling so it isn't used that often. Try practicing the concept with your chi...

Star Student Jaxtin Show and tell Blue Spelling words: Lay, laid, pay, paid, say, said, bay, day, play, maid, main, rain, pain. Recipe:  Please make a recipe with your child! It doesn't matter what you make but I would encourage a favourite recipe of your child's. I have a project that I want to do. Please complete this week or early next! I would also like some pictures of you making the recipe with your child. Finally: Please send a copy of the recipe either a paper copy or email or via remind. Spelling:  I saw good things on our spelling test. Great work! This week we will work on our two long A chunks: ay, and ai. The basic rule is - If A is at the end of the word, use AY. If A is in the middle of the word, try AI. The best practice would be for your child to listen to all the sounds in the word, does A come at the end? Does A come in the middle? Do not focus on these particular words as much as the skill.  Also, I know that many words have the a_e pattern. Don...
