Star Student Juancho

Monday, March 27th - Assembly, Timeline homework due.

Tuesday, March 28th - Library

Thursday, March 30th - Show and tell Blue

Friday, March 31st - Lenten Assembly

Monday, April 3 - Spelling test

Spelling: Long vowel magic e: _a_e, _i_e, _o_e, _u_e. came, made, tape, kite, ride, side, pine, hope, bone, tube, cute, rude, etc. Most likely I will use words from this list for the test however. I may use other words but my intention is that your child listens to the consonants and the long vowel and they understand the pattern. Please feel free to practice other magic e words. If you google - magic e words - you will get lists of words that follow the rule. I didn't include long e in this list because the more likely word chunk is ee or ea.

I missed doing spelling for a couple weeks, sorry!

Garden: Our garden is looking great! The grade 3s and the grade 2s and our grade class have all been planting. We have a variety of bean that grows very tall and one of the plants is almost touching the roof which means it is probably 7ft tall. Everything else is growing well too, I am starting to think I might have a green thumb! Although the benefit of growing inside is having no weeds.

Timeline Homework: Thank you for returning the completed timeline homework. I noticed that some were not completed quite properly and I will try to send them home to be fixed. The purpose of the homework is to make timeline of your child's life with 5 important events that have happened.

These could be: 1) I was born, 2) I was baptized, 3) I learned to walk, 4) I joined basketball, 5) I started grade one. Or anything that can be put in an order of when it happened. The events can be small or big. Your child might have a memory of a trip that they found important or perhaps they got a new pet or new sibling. If you have not sent the homework back, please include your child's age for each event.

Here is an example I found of a class online: I don't know that the writing and the drawing are from the same student.

Other classroom news: We have a student who started two weeks ago from Ukraine. Her name is Yuliia, she is very sweet and kind but does not speak English yet. She is learning new words everyday. We are talking about patience and kindness as a class so we can help Yuliia learn English and make friends!

We also have Jaida Duclos, a student from the high school, joining our class every afternoon. Jaida is doing a work exchange program with us which gives her credits to graduate. She is in grade eleven, very good at crafts and all around lovely to have in our classroom. She joined us last week and will be with us until mid June!
