Last week was a whirl-wind! We had lots of fun at school on Halloween, we played games with another grade one class including 'pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern', 'throw a hoop over the pumpkin' and others! In the morning we made a fun scary puppet and the kids are excited to make a play with their puppets.
On Tuesday we had our All Saints mass. It was lovely. Mrs. Unger and Mrs. Folk have put together a nice choir of our grades 3 to 6 students and they sing very nice.
Thank you for signing up for interviews. If you did not sign up but would like an interview, please email me and I can find you a time.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is open! It is a fundraiser for our library. Scholastic books are reasonably priced if you are looking for a Christmas gift. You are also welcome to order from Scholastic at any time in the year at Scholastic.ca, my classroom code is on the resources page of this website.
We haven't talked much about Remembrance day although we will find time this week to talk about how our Canadian soldiers fight for peace. I know it might hit a little closer to home this year so we will talk sensitively about war and focus on WWI and WWII. If you have any family stories about war that your child might like to share with us, let me know.
Loose Parts If you have 'loose parts' kicking around, please send them to school. This might include, magazines, toilet paper rolls, bottle caps, pieces of fabric, small box, popsicle sticks etc. The kids love to build and create. We are starting a fairy tale unit and we would like to create puppets and/or castles and forests and houses with things we can find.
Have a great week!
