Edsby Did you get an invitation for Edsby? If you were connected last year you should be able to access the class. If you are not connected, please contact me.

SCC Our School Community Council is always looking for help. You are welcome to attend the SCC meeting at our school tonight to learn how the SCC supports our school.

Science We are learning about our senses. This week I have a little homework for families, please check your child's agenda for information. 

Stone Soup Next Wednesday we are making stone soup! I will bring broth. Please send a food item that would taste good in soup. This includes vegetables like carrots, cauliflower, parsnips, potatoes, squash, corn, peas, beans etc. You could also send canned beans, pasta, rice, lentils etc. We will put it all together to create a soup for everyone to share.

In the morning each child will help by cutting veggies, with adult support. Parent help for cutting and making the soup would be lovely too, please send me a message if you can come help in the morning.

We will make buns the day before, Tuesday, October 18th. If any parents are interested in helping with bun making, please let me know. We would start at about 9am I think.

Parents are all welcome to share a bowl of soup with us from 12:00 to 1:00pm. If there is one family who would be able to bring throw away bowls instead of a food item, please let me know.

Art We invited some grade fours to help us make our turkeys!

Week of May 29th

Wednesday, May 31 - School assembly Friday, June 2 - Jump Rope for Heart Thursday, June 15 - Grade one Field Trip to Docs Town and SS Park. Spelling - numbers - one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Field Trip - June 15th. We are so excited to have a wonderful field trip. We are looking for parents to join us. Two parent helpers would be great but more would be welcome. We will leave the school at 9:15 and arrive at Doc's Town around 9:30. We will have a guided tour of Doc's Town. At 11:00 we will walk to the Southside (Riverside) Park. The kids will play and then we will eat lunch. In the afternoon we will break into groups and do some fun activities.  Jump Rope for Heart - You can donate online. Go to the Jump Rope for Heart website and search for our school. Week of January 23rd

 Star student Wynter Blue show and tell Friday, January 27 Family literacy day, muffin morning 8:15 to 8:45. Dress up like a book character or wear clothes with print. Monday, January 30th   No school, teacher prep day. Spelling skill - short I   big, bin, dill, dig, fill, fin, fit, him, his, kit, kiss, pin, rip, sit, tip, tin, win, will, zip,  I was very impressed with our short e spelling test! Thank you for practicing with your child. During our agenda writing we are always talking about spelling rules and we've learned a lot. Have you heard of the FLOSS rule? Short vowel words that end in f, l, s, and z usually have a double letter: buff, stuff, stiff, ball, call, all, hall, bell, tell, shell, bill, hill, full, bull, doll, mess, kiss, boss, etc. It's English so there are always exceptions but it works most of the time.
