Edsby has been chosen by Holy Trinity Catholic School Division to provide a modern way for parents and guardians to follow their child's progress at school, receive school updates and more. This includes the Summary of Learning (formerly known as a report card), Living Our Faith posts and access to view your child's work accompanied by teacher comments/feedback.

You will be receiving an Edsby invitation from the school office at the end of next week. It is important you accept this invitation to activate and connect you to your Edsby account which allows you access to all communication around your child's learning.

Edsby Please sign into Edsby because it the way that I will communicate your child's learning. I have two posts up already, please contact me if you don't see them. I would love to do this blog via Edsby too but I'm not sure how parents feel about the parent portal. That said, I am open to using Edsby for everything, please msg me if it seems like the better option.

Calendar Thank you for returning the practice calendars for September, the October calendar is on it's way home today! There may be a few things that I haven't started like sight word cards, please disregard and do a different task twice.

Mass This Thursday we will have mass at the church. Have your child show you how we do the sign of the cross. We are learning to use our right hand, we touch our forehead, tummy, left then right shoulder. 

Math We have done a lot of work with patterns and I worked with small groups of students on a practice test. Some students have a great understanding of patterns and some are still gaining understanding. Please look at patterns, talk about patterns and create patterns with your child. Look for the 'core' of the pattern. The core is the part that repeats. 

Masks Aren't these kids the cutest ever?! We made animal masks and read a story called 'Sometimes I Feel Like A Fox.' There were different animals in the story and each had different characteristics. We had a fun time crafting with construction paper! Check Edsby for a post about our masks.

Star Student Jett Wednesday, January 18th - Eighties Day, Library Thursday, January 19th - Red show and tell. Monday, January 23th - spelling test. Friday, January 27th - Family literacy day. Muffin morning, 8:15 - 8:45. Parents are welcome to come and read with their children. Week of May 29th

Wednesday, May 31 - School assembly Friday, June 2 - Jump Rope for Heart Thursday, June 15 - Grade one Field Trip to Docs Town and SS Park. Spelling - numbers - one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Field Trip - June 15th. We are so excited to have a wonderful field trip. We are looking for parents to join us. Two parent helpers would be great but more would be welcome. We will leave the school at 9:15 and arrive at Doc's Town around 9:30. We will have a guided tour of Doc's Town. At 11:00 we will walk to the Southside (Riverside) Park. The kids will play and then we will eat lunch. In the afternoon we will break into groups and do some fun activities.  Jump Rope for Heart - You can donate online. Go to the Jump Rope for Heart website and search for our school. Week of January 23rd

 Star student Wynter Blue show and tell Friday, January 27 Family literacy day, muffin morning 8:15 to 8:45. Dress up like a book character or wear clothes with print. Monday, January 30th   No school, teacher prep day. Spelling skill - short I   big, bin, dill, dig, fill, fin, fit, him, his, kit, kiss, pin, rip, sit, tip, tin, win, will, zip,  I was very impressed with our short e spelling test! Thank you for practicing with your child. During our agenda writing we are always talking about spelling rules and we've learned a lot. Have you heard of the FLOSS rule? Short vowel words that end in f, l, s, and z usually have a double letter: buff, stuff, stiff, ball, call, all, hall, bell, tell, shell, bill, hill, full, bull, doll, mess, kiss, boss, etc. It's English so there are always exceptions but it works most of the time.
